FAQ’s
Stahls provides many different lines of versatile heat press machines that will fit different production requirements: Clamshell Presses: The MAXX Clam option and Auto Open Clam heat press options have small footprints, so they are user-friendly and a great option for new businesses or small businesses. Swing-Away & Hover Presses: The Hover Press is an example of one of Stahls heat presses that comes with a design feature for DTG ink curing to prevent scorching with a hover mode. Air-Operated Presses: The Air Fusion IQ® and Dual Air Fusion IQ® line heat presses use pneumatic operation, which makes them capable of high production-level quality and the latest features, including cloud-based tracking and touchscreen capabilities. Hat & Cap Presses: The 360 IQ® Hat Press and Auto Cap Press heat presses use curved platens and digital controls to specialize in the headwear industry.
Yes, most Stahls heat presses have digital controls for temperature, time, and pressure settings. The MAXX Clam has digital time and temperature displays. The Fusion IQ® series has live digital displays and additional digital features like cloud tracking. The 360 IQ® Hat Press has digital time, temperature, and pressure displays. Digital controls help with consistent and accurate heat application across different substrates and transfers.
You should preheat the lower platen of your Stahls press for 30 seconds to ensure heat is uniformly dispersed before the press is used. The heating time for the upper platen will depend on the model and ambient conditions; however, in most cases, Hotronix presses will reach the set temperature within a few minutes.
The length of the press cycle relies on the specific heat transfer material to be used. For example, CAD-CUT® Adhesive has a press time of 3-5 seconds at 300°F, while Chroma-TWILL™ requires 20 seconds at 302°F. It is always best to refer to the application instructions for specific timing.
Yes, many of Stahls heat presses include a threadable lower platen design that allows the garment to rotate to print multiple sides without undressing. The Hotronix® Air Fusion IQ® and the Fusion IQ® are examples of models that contain a threadable lower platen design to help with production.
